Definition

Residents who have behaviours and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) should have a comprehensive assessment including: Underlying causes, analysis of the behaviours, physical and mental health, level of pain or discomfort, side effects of medication, the influence of religious and spiritual beliefs and cultural norms, physical environmental and interpersonal factors, and carer(s) health and communication style when interacting with have the resident.
