Defining Attributes

Definition

The indicator shows the proportion (%) of Finnish people aged 75 and over who have used health services during the last 12 months among respondents to the FinSote postal survey. The survey contained the following question about health service use because of mental health problems: In the past 12 months, have you visited any of the following services because of mental health issues or substance abuse problems? The services included in the question were: 1) a health centre, occupational health care or student health care, 2) a mental health clinic or psychiatry outpatient clinic, 3) an A-Clinic, detoxification or other substance abuse treatment, 4) a private practice (doctor, psychologist, etc.), 5) a psychiatric or other hospital, 6) other place of care. The options were no; yes, because of mental health problems; yes, because of substance abuse problems.

Numerator

Number of people aged 75 and older who indicated using health services because of mental health problems in the previous 12 months.
