Definition
The indicator describes the morbidity of the older population groups to some extent, but especially the regional and nationwide use of hospital services in primary health care. In addition to morbidity, the factors influencing service use include population age structure, service supply, treatment practices (particularly the provision of care at different levels of the health-care system) and the threshold for seeking care.
