Defining Attributes

Definition

The percentage of beneficiaries ages 65 and older who received two or more medications with a high-risk designation within the same class. A lower rate indicates better performance.

Numerator

Patients with at least two orders for the same high-risk medication on different days during the measurement period.

Denominator

Beneficiaries who were: at least 65 years old at the beginning of the measurement year and continuously enrolled in Medicare Parts A, B, and D during the measurement year.`
