Defining Attributes

Definition

Percentage of patients with one or more screenings for colorectal cancer during the time-frames specific to each type of screen. Appropriate screenings include: Faecal occult blood test (FOBT) during the MP, Flexible sigmoidoscopy during the MP or the four years prior to the MP, Colonoscopy during the MP or the nine years prior to the MP, Faecal immunochemical test (FIT)-DNA during the MP or the two years prior to the MP, CT (computed tomographic) Colonography during the MP or the four years prior to the MP.

Numerator

Patients with one or more screenings for colorectal cancer during the time-frames specific to each type of screen.

Denominator

Patients who are 50-75 years of age with an eligible encounter during the measurement period.

Exclusions

Patients with a diagnosis or past history of total colectomy or colorectal cancer. This measure also excludes patients who received hospice services during the measurement period, patients who are 66 and older with advanced illness and frailty, and patients who are 66 and older who are living long-term in an institution for more than 90 consecutive days during the measurement period
