Defining Attributes

Definition

Documents whether provider has adopted a qualified e-Prescribing system and the extent of use in the ambulatory setting.

Numerator

All prescriptions created during the encounter were generated using an e-prescribing system (G8443) that is capable of ALL of the following: 1. Generating a complete active medication list incorporating electronic data received from applicable pharmacies and pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) if available 2. Selecting medications, printing prescriptions, electronically transmitting prescriptions, and conducting all alerts for e-prescribing including undesirable or unsafe situations, such as potentially inappropriate dose or route of administration of a drug, drug-drug interactions, allergy concerns, or warnings and cautions. 3. Providing information related to the availability of lower cost, therapeutically appropriate alternatives (if any). 4. Providing information on formulary or tiered formulary medications, patient eligibility, and authorisation requirements received electronically from the patient's drug plan.

All patient encounters.

Exclusions

E-Prescribing System available but no prescriptions were generated (G8445) OR E-Prescribing System available but not used for one or more prescriptions due to system/patient reasons (G8446).
