Definition

Percentage of all cancer patients who were started on a new chemotherapy regimen within the last 14 and last 30 days of their lives (measured by the first treatment date of a chemotherapy course).

Numerator

Number of patients starting a new chemotherapy regimen in the last 30 days of life

Denominator

Number of patients (aged 18+) who died of cancer (including metastatic cases)

Exclusions

Non-melanoma skin cancers (C44.x) Cases only confirmed by death certificate
