Definition

Proportion of patients who had an as-needed prescription of injectable opioids for pain during the last week of life.

Numerator

Number of patients who died and are registered in the Swedish palliative care register and had an emergency prescription of an injectable opioid for pain when they died.

Denominator

Number of registered deceased patients in the Swedish palliative care registry during the measurement period.
