Definition
Were you involved as much as you wanted to be in decisions about your care and treatment? The response options to question (27 in 20 measure and 9 in 6 measure) is: Never, Sometimes, Usually, Always.
Numerator
A subset of the denominator that represents patients age 18 and older who responded to a question about being involved in decision making.
Denominator
Patients age 18 and older who responded to questions regarding receiving enough information from hospital staff about being involved in health decisions, in the Canadian Institute for Health Information- Patient Experiences Survey.
Exclusions
Patient populations not included in maternal, surgical and medical. (To ensure comparability across hospitals and to prevent misinterpretation, results do not include maternity patients).
