Definition

Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst hospital possible and 10 is the best hospital possible, what number would you use to rate this hospital during your stay? The response options to question (19 in 20 measure) is: 0 worst hospital possible to 10 best hospital possible.

Numerator

A subset of the denominator that represents patients age 18 and older who responded to a question about overall hospital experience on a scale of 0-10.

Patients age 18 and older who responded to questions regarding overall hospital stay in the Canadian Institute for Health Information- Patient Experiences Survey

Exclusions

Patient populations not included in maternal, surgical and medical. (To ensure comparability across hospitals and to prevent misinterpretation, results do not include maternity patients).
