Definition
Before giving you any new medicine, how often did hospital staff tell you what the medicine was for? The response options to question (15 in 20 measure) is: Never, Sometimes, Usually, Always.
Numerator
A subset of the denominator that represents patients age 18 and older who responded to a question about receiving information before being administered new medications.
Denominator
Patients age 18 and older who responded to questions regarding before new medicine, how often did hospital staff tell you what the medicine was for, in the Canadian Institute for Health Information- Patient Experiences Survey
Exclusions
Patient populations not included in maternal, surgical and medical. (To ensure comparability across hospitals and to prevent misinterpretation, results do not include maternity patients).
