Numerator

A subset of the denominator that represents patients age 18 and older who responded to questions about explanations by doctors.

Denominator

Patients age 18 and older who responded to questions regarding understandable explanations by doctors in the Canadian Institute for Health Information- Patient Experiences Survey

Exclusions

Patient populations not included in maternal, surgical and medical. (To ensure comparability across hospitals and to prevent misinterpretation, results do not include maternity patients).
