Definition

The rate of antibiotics consumed in the hospital sector per 100 bed days.

Numerator

The overall defined daily dose (DDD) for acute inpatient antimicrobial consumption during the reference period.

Denominator

Acute bed days used in the reference period x 100.

Exclusions

Data on antibiotics dispensed to outpatients, day cases and external facilities are excluded.
