Defining Attributes

Definition

Rate of new cases of hospital associated Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) (per month per 10,000 bed days) where the CDI case is (1) confirmed, (2) new and (3) hospital associated.

Numerator

Number of cases of hospital associated CDI infection as per definition above.

Denominator

Acute bed days used x 10,000, provided by the HSE BIU acute unit. This is based on the average number of available acute in patient beds during the month.
