Numerator
Number of deaths in the same hospital that occurred within 30 days of the admission date of the denominator cases.
Denominator
Number of admissions to hospital for acute non-elective (urgent) care with a principal diagnosis of ischaemic stroke [Ischaemic stroke diagnostic codes upon separation: ICD-9 433, 434, and 436 or ICD-10 I63-I64] from 1 January to 31 December in the specified year.
