Numerator
Observed number of in-hospital deaths for NOF patients × national in-hospital mortality rate for NOF patients.
Denominator
Expected number of in-hospital deaths for NOF patients = the sum of the estimated probabilities of death for all separations (meeting the denominator criteria), calculated using national risk-adjustment coefficients.
Exclusions
Length of stay more than 30 days.
