Defining Attributes

Definition

This indicator measures the age-standardised acute care hospitalisation rate for conditions where appropriate ambulatory care prevents or reduces the need for admission to hospital.

Numerator

Total number of acute care hospitalisations for ambulatory care sensitive conditions in patients younger than age 75.

Denominator

Total mid-year population younger than age 75.

Exclusions

Records with discharge at death. Newborn, stillbirth or cadaveric donor records.
