Data Collection Methods

Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) is a nationally representative annual survey of the civilian non-institutionalised population in the US by the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The MEPS has an overlapping panel design in which each year a new panel was drawn from households responding to the previous year's National Health Interview Survey. Participants completed 5 rounds of in-person interviews, a self-administered questionnaire, and the Diabetes Case Survey (if applicable) over 2 years.
