Definition

Percentage of separations for hospitals where the episode of care is a readmission to the same hospital following an episode of care in which a hip replacement was performed and the readmission interval is 60 days. . Unplanned/unexpected readmissions are those readmissions where the principal diagnosis and readmission interval indicate that the readmission may be related to the care provided by the hospital during the patient's episode of care for the management of a hip replacement.

Numerator

Number of separations for hospitals where the episode of care is a readmission to the same hospital following an episode of care in which a hip replacement was performed and the readmission interval is 60 days. Unplanned/unexpected readmission refers to an unexpected admission for "further treatment of the same condition", "treatment of a condition related to one for which the patient was previously hospitalised", or "a complication of the condition for which the patient was previously hospitalised".

Total separations for management of knee replacement in a specified reference period
