Definition

Average of the most positive response option available to three questions about discharge experience: -Before you left hospital, did staff give you or to someone close to you useful information about managing your health and care at home? -Did hospital staff take your family, home or health situation into account when planning your return to home? -Were you involved, as much as you wanted to be, in decisions about leaving hospital?

Numerator

Number of patients who chose the most positive response option available for three questions about their discharge experience.

Denominator

Total number of survey respondents who selected any of the response options to the questions.

Victorian Healthcare Experience Survey (VHES) administered to adult and paediatric patients (and carers) across acute, outpatient, palliative care, ambulance and community settings. Each selected patient is invited to the survey via an email, SMS or letter delivered to their home address, based on the contact details available.
