Quality Indicator Repository
Quality indicators are standardised, evidence-based measures used to monitor and evaluate the quality and safety of care. The ACAC developed a Quality Indicator Repository. For information on its development see this document.
Please navigate the Quality Indicator Repository to learn about the quality indicators we identified across care settings and their defining, data, and source attributes. You can also use the Quality Indicator Repository to download quality indicators of interest to you.
The acute bed days per capita rates are presented using the number of bed days for acute hospital stays per 1000 population domiciled within a District with age standardisation.
Mental health beds in general hospitals per 100,000 population.
The number of hospital beds available per every 10 000 inhabitants in a population.
This indicator provides a measure of the resources available for delivering services to inpatients in hospitals in terms of number of beds that are maintained, staffed and immediately available for use.
All patients admitted as inpatients are included in the numerator regardless of whether they are in day surgery areas, surgical suites, emergency, etc. Therefore, the hospital occupancy calculation can be over 100%.

The share of hospitals with occupancy rate for COVID-19 patients in ICU (intensive care unit) licensed beds above 60%.
The number of mental health units in general hospitals per 100,000 population.
This metric looks at the number of acute bed days lost due to delayed transfers of care (DTOC) (i.e., when a patient remains in hospital after a senior doctor has documented in the medical chart that the patient can be discharged).
The percentage of hospital beds (ICU and non ICU) that are closed due to staff absenteeism or force majeure.
The percentage of ICU beds that are closed due to staff absenteeism or force majeure.
The number of available hospital beds (daily average) by bed type.
